Why short films? Often celebrated and then shelved, shorts are a filmmaker’s purest, rawest form of artistic expression, and executed within the boundaries of smaller production budgets. Most short films don’t get seen beyond the festival circuit. We can’t think of a better way to open our minds to new stories, cultures & POVs!

A meditative observation of the poetry present in the world of Pedrito, an elderly boxer who lives in the mountains of Cuba, while he comes to an understanding of his physical mortality and becomes aware of his spiritual immortality.

A story built from the multidimensionality of Anthony, a young child from a small town in Cuba, as he displays contradictory traits of creativity, destruction, rigidity, and tenderness while exploring both his external and internal worlds.

Meet The Director

Amir Aether Valen

Amir Aether Valen is a writer, director and photographer who works primarily within non-fiction storytelling. While studying at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Amir’s student film "Who I Say I Am" won the Best Trinidad & Tobago Short Documentary Film Award, as well as the United Nations Award for Best Emerging Documentary Filmmaker.
